There are two main types of optical cables for power communication on overhead transmission lines: OPGW fiber composite overhead ground wire and ADSS full-media self-supporting optical cable. OPGW is usually used on newly built power lines, and ADSS is often used on completed power lines.

The optical cable fitting is different from the electric power fitting for connecting and combining the OPGW or ADSS optical cable to transmit the load and protect the metal accessory of the OPGW or ADSS cable in the overhead line.

OPGW, ADSS optical cable fittings mainly include preformed wire tensile fittings, preformed wire hanging fittings, joint boxes, down-line clamps, clamps, anti-vibrators, anti-vibration whip, guard lines, terminal boxes, fastening fixtures and Matching fittings are usually supplied by optical cable manufacturers.
